Sažetak

Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano has been erupting continuously for 34 years. Hazards from the eruption include toxic gas emissions and lava flows that destroy homes, roads, beaches, and forests. This talk will address the chemistry and health effects of the gaseous emissions and the recent advance of lava flows that threatened the village of Pahoa. Beneficial aspects of the volcano, such as geothermal energy, will also be introduced.
