Description:
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. To identify functional groups present in organic compound and to write down its systematic name.
2. To explain the basic types of bonding in chemical compounds.
3. To classify and explain the isomerism of organic compounds.
4. To conduct elementary conformational analysis of acyclic and cyclic organic compounds.
5. To determine absolute and relative configurations of asymmetric carbon atom.
6. To explain the ways the structure influences the reactivity of organic species, as well as the position of chemical equilibria.
7. To categorize the mechanisms of organic reactions.
8. To give the details of aliphatic nucleophilic substitution mechanisms.
9. To give the details of elimination mechanisms.
10. To give the details of electrophilic addition mechanism.
11. To describe the principles of common spetroscopy methods used in organic structure determination.
12. To identify unknown organic compound by using spectroscopy methods.
