POVEZNICE

U četvrtak 28.5.2015. u 14,00 h u predavaonici F08 (velika predavaonica, prizemlje) seminar će održati Prof. Franci Gabrovšek s Karst Research Institute, Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts uz naslov "Modelling processes and forms in karst systems"

Karst is a dynamic earth system characterised by dissolution of rock in surface water and groundwater. This gave rise to variety of distinctive surface and underground features and to the unique hydrology and life forms. Once these forms were recognised, described and classified, the question was their formation.
Conceptual models based on heuristic reasoning are now being replaced and upgraded by numerical and mathematical models based on equations of flow, dissolution and transport. This talk gives a review of approaches and attempts to model karst forms and processes, such as evolution of caves, forms within them, and forms on karst surface.
The lecture is part of project Physical Research of Active and Paleoenvironmental
processes in Caves of Dinaric Karst (PMF-IZRK SAZU).
