Alojzije Brkic graduated from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. He defended his master thesis titled "Effect of mistranslation on the stability of model proteins in cell extract" under supervision of prof. dr. sc. Ita Gruić Sovulj i doc. dr. sc. Marko Močibob in 2019. During both his undergraduate and graduate studies he actively enrols into science popularization (Participant of PMF Open day manifestation) and work with students as demonstrator for multiple theoretical and practical courses.
From 2019. he is employed at the Department of Biochemistry as research assistant. He currently conducts research for the project "Investigation of substrate and editing specifity in aminoacyl tRNA synthetases and the mechanism of antibiotic action“ (PI's: Ita Gruić Sovulj, PMF i Nenad Ban, ETH Zürich).
Research interests of Alojzije Brkic include structural and kinetic caracterisation of isoleucyl-tRNA synthetases from different organisms. For his research he utilizes standard and advanced genetic ingeneering, macromolecular crystallization and enzymatic kinetic techiques.
From 2019. Alojzije Brkic is a member of the Croatian Chemical Society.
