Our second workshop leader is dr. sc. Paula Dobrinić, currently a postdoc at the Univeristy of Oxford, who will give a talk titled: ''Careers Beyond Academia: Experience from the University of Oxford''.
dr. sc. Paula Dobrinić earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in molecular biology from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. In 2016 she received her doctorate in biology from the same institution. As a part of her PhD research she developed a molecular tool for targeted DNA methylation based on the CRISPR/Cas9 system, which can be used to study mechanisms of mammalian gene expression regulation. Since 2017 she has been working as a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. Her research in the group of Prof. Rob Klose has been focusing on understanding the mechanisms of Polycomb-mediated gene regulation in mammals. She co-authored several research papers published in high-impact journals. Although she started her career as a lab-based scientist, she has gradually transitioned into computational genomics. Now she is looking to use that expertise in applied research outside of academia.
