All teaching activities will be held in Croatian. However, foreign students in mixed groups will have the opportunity to attend additional office hours with the lecturer and teaching assistants in English to help master the course materials. Additionally, the lecturer will refer foreign students to the corresponding literature in English, as well as give them the possibility of taking the associated exams in English.

Description:
Lectures:
1. Introduction to geobotany.
2. Area, concept and characteristics of area.
3. Ecology of plant distribution.
4. The origin of today's flora and vegetation on Earth during the geological past, the influence of man on the development of flora and vegetation in Europe from the Ice Age to today.
5. Floristic division of the world, floral kingdoms.
6. Global distribution of vegetation.
7. Tropical rain forests, hygric niches, tropical rain forest regions.
8. Tropical deciduous forests, tropical deciduous forest regions; Savannas, savanna regions; Eurytropical dry shrubs, eurytropical dry shrubs regions; Eurytropical deserts, eurytropical desert regions.
9. Oreotropical forests, variants and regions, human influence on oreotropical forests.
10. Laurel forests (laurisilva), variants and regions; Mediterranean forests and scrublands, variants and regions.
11. Pampas, varieties and regions; Temperate deciduous forests, varieties and regions.
12. Coniferous forests of the boreal zone, variants and regions.
13. Polar and high mountain vegetation, variants and regions.
14. Floristic and plant-geographic regions of Croatia.

3. Humus in the soil, soil pH.
4. Transpiration, evaporation, relative air humidity.
5. Insolation, wind speed measurement.
6. Floristic composition and structure of natural, semi-natural and anthropogenic vegetation.
7. Making phytosociological plot (relevé) and analyses.
