Description:
COURSE GOALS: To teach the students the fundamentals of qualitative and quantitative analyses and help them acquire experimental skilfulness.

LEARNING OUTCOMES AT THE LEVEL OF THE PROGRAMME:
1. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
1.2. demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamental concepts in chemistry
1.4. demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the most important chemistry laws and theories
1.5. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic experimental methods, instruments and methods of experimental data processing in physics and chemistry
2. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
2.2. describe important aspects of chemical change
2.4. recognize and follow the logic of arguments, evaluate the adequacy of arguments and construct well supported arguments
2.7. apply basic laboratory safety and security measures
5. LEARNING SKILLS
5.1. search for and use professional literature as well as any other sources of relevant information

LEARNING OUTCOMES SPECIFIC FOR THE COURSE:
1. to use laboratory equipment and instruments for determination of composition and quantity of substance;
2. to apply titrimetrc, gravimetric and spectrochemical methods for chemical analysis;
3. collect and interpret the obtained data from performed experiments.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Qualitative analysis of cations, anions and solid materials; Selected methods of titrimetric, gravimetric and spectrometric analysis

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS:
Thorough preparation for all laboratory exercises, passing the introductory colloquiums, writing laboratory reports.

GRADING AND ASSESSING THE WORK OF STUDENTS:
On the basis of colloquia held before every laboratory exercise and on the basis of laboratory reports.
