Historical principles of mineral classification. Crystal-chemical classification of minerals. Classification of minerals. Elements. Sulphides. Oxides. Halogenides. Carbonates. Nitrates, iodates and borates. Sulphates. Phosphates. Molibdates, tungstenates and orgnanic minerals. Nesosilicates. Sorosilicates and cyclosilicates. Inosilicates. Phyllosilicates. Tectosilicates.

Learning outcomes:

Basic knowledge and understanding of the mineral classification and nomenclature
Ability to use macroscopical characteristics of minerals
Ability to recognize of most frequent minerals
