Practicum 30
* Load is given in academic hour (1 academic hour = 45 minutes)
Description:
Expected learning outcomes:

1. Capability of applying fractal theory of biological structures to estimate whether the biological system under the investigation is a fractal object or not.
2. Capability of making use of the reported phase diagrams of biomembrane lipid components in the design of the experiments.
3. Capability of recruiting scientists from other scientific disciplines, which can contribute in the analysis of questions, imposed in the specific research.
4. Capability of understanding and following of scientific literature in the field of this very interdisciplinary scientific segment.

Course content:

Lectures:

1. Biomembranes geometry and dynamics: Theory of fractals
2. Biomembranes dynamics: (deterministic chaos
3. Supramolecular structure of eukaryotic cells, Lipids and interactions in the membranes
4. Phase transitions in the biomembrane
5. Liquid crystals
6. Heterogeneity and asymmetry in the organization of building blocks with the membrane Liposoms,
7. Transport through the membrane
8. Molecular dynamics
