All teaching activities will be held in Croatian. However, foreign students in mixed groups will have the opportunity to attend additional office hours with the lecturer and teaching assistants in English to help master the course materials. Additionally, the lecturer will refer foreign students to the corresponding literature in English, as well as give them the possibility of taking the associated exams in English.

Field course in botany with 60 h is directly related to the content of the course Croatian Flora (45065) (4328)

Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to

1. Use materials and equipement necessary for the implementation of inventory and mapping of flora of some area
2. To design and plann the course of research of flora of an area
3. Investigate the flora of the target area in a given period and geographical scope
4. Analyze the composition of the flora of the investigated area with respect to several criteria
5. Interpret the findings and prepare the conditions for making professional-scientific studies
6. Design and perform vegetation sampling
7. Understand and survey gradients in ecology
8. Analyze the multivariate data


Course content

1. Field trip: introduction to the field of research, defining the boundaries in nature and maps
2. Field trip: acquainted with the GPS device, field orientation, geocoding of the standard points for direct mapping and grid units for indirect mapping, inventory of flora
