Description:
1. Introduction to BCS superconductiviy.
2. Crystal structure and structural phase transitions in the cuprates.
3. Magnetic properties of the cuprates: neutron scattering and NMR.
4. Thermodynamic properties of the cuprates: specific heat measurements.
5. Electronic properties of the cuprates: band structure calculations and ARPES measuremnts. Pseudogap in the electronic density of states.
6. Transport and microwave properties of the cuprates. Electron, phonon and two-magnon Raman scattering. Reflectivity measurements.
7. Experimental determination and theoretical discussion of the symmetry of the superconducting order parameter.
8. Theoretical models for the high-temperature superconductivity. The role of strong correlations and electron-phonon coupling in the normal and superconducting state of the cuprates.
