Description:
COURSE GOALS: To provide students with basic concepts of materials characterisation

LEARNING OUTCOMES AT THE LEVEL OF THE PROGRAMME:

LEARNING OUTCOMES SPECIFIC FOR THE COURSE:
A student should be able to prepare a sample and choose an appropriate method.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
1. Methods of material/sample preparation
2. Diffraction methods;
3. Microscopic techniques;
4. Spectroscopic methods;
5. X-ray (Roentgen) Spectroscopy;
6. Measurement of transport properties;
7. Magnetic measurements;
8. Resonance techniques;
9. Elementary particle techniques;
10. Thermal analysis;
11. Mechanical measurements.


REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS:
Student is obliged to attend lectures, to give one seminar paper on a selected topic, to do homework and quizzes.

GRADING AND ASSESSING THE WORK OF STUDENTS:
Regular attendance of lectures and exercises. Reasonable good presentation of the seminar.
