COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the principles of ethical thinking and work in biology. Gaining insight into basic bioethical issues and problems, acquiring tools for critical analysis of bioethical issues and articulating their theoretical and practical dimensions. Introduction to the context of biological sciences underlying bioethical dilemmas and recognizing ethical challenges for scientists and society as a whole.

3) Animals in scientific research;
4) Genetically modified organisms (GMOs);
5) Embryo research;
6) Genetic testing;
7) Cloning;
8) Eugenics;
9) Environmental ethics;
10) Gene therapy;
11) Neuroethics;
12) Technology in biomedicine.
SEMINARS
Seminars within the course will be based on group treatment of the biotic topic from multiple perspectives, including ethical, biological, legal and social/historical aspects. A written seminar is given, which, after correction, is presented to the whole group. Each student will participate in two group assignments.
