Chemical and biological evolution on Earth. Cell theory and origin of first cells. Life taxonomy. Characteristics of living organisms from different life domains. Prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Differences in eukaryotic cells (plant and animal cells). Structure of eukaryotic cells. Biomembranes, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, lysosomes, peroxisomes, plastids, mitochondria and cytoskelet. Cell signalization: type and signal transduction. Nucleus: organization and function, nuclear envelope, from DNA to chromosomes. Cell cycle and control.
