All teaching activities will be held in Croatian. However, foreign students in mixed groups will have the opportunity to attend additional office hours with the lecturer and teaching assistants in English to help master the course materials. Additionally, the lecturer will refer foreign students to the corresponding literature in English, as well as give them the possibility of taking the associated exams in English.

Description:
LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1. To use basic taxonomic methods and appropriate literature for independent determination of protist taxa.

2. To acquire basic microscopic techniques as well as preparation of temporary and permanent microscopic preparations.

3. To recognize and classify basic groups of protists regarding current classification systems.

4. To discuss diversity and heterogeneity of protists in view of their structure and function in ecosystems.

5. To compare and validate protist classification systems in respect to protists being the most heterogeneous group of eukaryotes.

6. To compare the structure of certain protist groups and to discuss the importance of certain characteristics from evolutionary point of view.
