From the 3rd till the  6th of October 2021, PhD students Renata Biba i Karla Košpić attended CROTOX 2021 - 6th Croatian Congress of Toxicology.

Renata Biba gave a lecture entitled Differently coated silver nanoparticles cause oxidative stress and induce cellular damage in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) seedlings“ as a winner of the  Young Scientist Awards.

Karla Košpić participated with a poster presentation entitled Acute exposure to silver nanoparticles and ionic silver triggers oxidative stress in tobacco plants“.

Both contributions presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project.

 

From the 3rd till the  8th of July 2021, PhD students Renata Biba i Karla Košpić attended  The 45th FEBS Virtual Congress with poster presentations entitled „Induction of oxidative stress in tobacco seedlings treated with differently coated silver nanoparticles” and ”Comparative study on the effects of silver nanoparticles and silver ions on disturbance of antioxidant system in roots of tobacco plants”, where they presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project.

 

From the 9th till the  11th of March 2021, Prof. Petra Peharec Štefanić and PhD student Karla Košpić attended Fourth Conference of the International Plant Proteomics Organization (INPPO) 2021   with poster presentations entitled „Effects of silver nanoparticles and silver nitrate on root

proteins of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) plants” and ” Changes in activities and isoform patterns of antioxidant enzymes in tobacco plants upon exposure to silver nanoparticles and silver nitrate”, where they presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project.

 

Results of immunohistochemistry analyses with monoclonal antibodies Tubulin alpha chain i Tubulin gamma chain of leaf proteins from tobacco plants exposed to silver nanoparticles, Agrisera company has made public on its web site. Analyses have been performed by PhD student Karla Košpić as a part of her PhD thesis research within the frame of NanoPhytoTox project. Results can be found at the following links:

On Monday the 14th of Decemberr Croatian Society of Plant Biology organised online Mini Symposium in the frame of which PhD student Renata Biba gave lecture entitled Impact of silver nanoparticles stabilised with different coatings on germination and oxidatives stress in Nicotiana tabacum seedlings where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project.

 

From 10th till the  13th of November, 2020 PhD student Karla Košpić attended 3rd International Congress on Food Safety and Quality“ with poster presentation entitled „CHANGES IN THE ANTIOXIDANT STATUS OF TOBACCO PLANTSUPON EXPOSURE TO SILVER NANOPARTICLES AND SILVER NITRATE, where they presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project. Her poster won the 3rd prize for best poster! Congratulations Karla!

 

During the manifestation „European Researchers' Night 2019“ which was held on the 27th of September on the European square in Zagreb, Assistant Prof. Petra Peharec Štefanić and Prof. Biljana Balen presented part of the results of the NanoPhytoTox project during the photo exhibition „The Beauty of Discovery“ of the Faculty of Science.

 

On Friday the 29th of November Croatian Society of Plant Biology organised Mini Symposium at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb in the frame of which Professor Mirta Tkalec and Assistant Professor  Petra Peharec Štefanić gave lectures entitled Impact of silver nanoparticles on photosynthesis in Nicotiana tabacum plants and  Detection and localization of silver nanoparticles in plant roots where they presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project. At the same symposium PhD students Renata Biba and Karla Košpić participated with posters Impact of silver nanoparticles on physiological parameters of tobacco seedlings and Oxidative stress assessment in tobacco plants exposed to silver nanoparticles and silver nitrate.

From the 8th till the 11th of September, 2019. Professor B. Balen, Professor Ana-Marija Domijan, Petra Cvjetko, PhD and Renata Biba, PhD student attended the 55th Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX 2019) in Helsinki, Finland with three poster presentations: „Assessment of reactive oxygen species in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) seedlings exposed to silver nanoparticles“, „Effects of silver nanoparticles and silver nitrate on photosynthesis and photosynthesis-related proteins in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) – a comparative study“ and „Impact of silver nanoparticles on physiological parameters of tobacco seedlings“, which presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project.

 

 


From the 28th of July  till the  3rd of August, 2019 PhD students Renata Biba and Karla Košpić attended FEBS 13th European Summer School – „Advanced Proteomics“ held in Brixen/Bressanone (Italy), with poster presentations entitled „Cysteine can alleviate AgNP-induced oxidative stress“ and „Peroxidase activity and isoenzyme pattern in tobacco plants exposed to silver nanoparticles and silver nitrate, where they presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project.


 

 

 

On the 7th of May 2019 Professor Biljana Balen, PhD in the frame of the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of Matica Hrvatska presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project in the lecture entitled “Fitotoksičnost nanočestica srebra“.

 

 

From the 13th until the 16th of September  2018, Professor Biljana Balen attended the „Second International Congress on Food Safety and Quality – “Food Life Cycle”, held in Opatija, Croatia with lecture entitled „SILVER IN NANO AND BULK FORM DIFFERENTLY AFFECTS PHOTOSYNTHESIS AND PHOTOSYNTHESIS-RELATED PROTEINS IN LEAVES OF TOBACCO PLANTS“ , where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project. PhD student Renata Biba attended the same conference with the poster presentation entitled „CYSTEINE CAN ALLEVIATE SILVER NANOPARTICLE–INDUCED PHYTOTOXICITY IN TOBACCO SEEDLINGS“ presenting the results obtained within the same project.

 

 

From the 19th untill the 23rd of September  2018, Petra Cvjetko, PhD, attended the „ 13th CROATIAN BIOLOGICAL CONGRESS with International Participation “, held in Poreč, Croatia with poster presentation entitled „Protective effects of cysteine against silver nanoparticles-induced phytotoxicity, where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project. PhD student Renata Biba attended the same conference with the poster entitled „Coated silver nanoparticles affect germination and disrupt tobacco growth“ presenting the results obtained within the same project.

From the 23rd of August  till the  1st of September, 2018 PhD student Renata Biba attended „14th Greta Pifat Mrzljak International School of Biophysics“, held in Split, Croatia with lecture and poster presentation entitled „Physiological and proteomic responses of tobacco seedlings exposed to silver nanoparticles, where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project.

On the 12th of July 2018 diploma student of Pharmacy Katarina Drobac attended a „Symposium of Students of Pharamcy and Medical Biochemistry – FARMEBS“ of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of the University of Zagreb, where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project in poster entitled „Parameters of oxidative stress in oxidative stress in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) after treatment with silver nanoparticles in combination with cysteine“. Students of the same Faculty, Moreno Martinović and Melissa Kurtalić, presented results in poster entitledEffect of silver nanoparticles on tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) antioxidant enzyme activity“.

 

On the 9th of February 2018 PhD student Renata Biba attended a „Symposium of Students of Doctoral Programmes of the Faculty of Science University of Zagreb“, where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project in poster entitled „Silver nanoparticles affect germination and induce oxidative stress in tobacco“.

 

On the 8th of December 2017 Associate Professor Biljana Balen, PhD participated at the Mini Symposium of the Croatian Society of Plant Biologists held in Zagreb, Croatia where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project in the lecture entitled “Fitotoksični učinci nanočestica srebra na odrasle biljke duhana“.

 

In November 21st–24th, 2017 Associate Professor Biljana Balen, PhD, attended a congress „ Food Safety and Quality Congress with International Participation“  held in Opatija, Hrvatska where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project in the oral presentation entitled „Physiological, ultrastructural and proteomic responses of tobacco seedlings exposed to silver nanoparticles and silver nitrate“. Renata Biba, PhD student attended the same congress where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project in the poster entitled “Silver nanoparticles affect germination and photosynthesis in tobacco“.

 

 

In September 10th–13th, 2017 Associate Professor Mirta Tkalec, PhD, attended a congress „53rd Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX)“  held in Bratislava, Slovakia where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project in poster entitled „Impact of silver nanoparticles on photosynthesis in tobacco plants“.

 

In September 24th–29th, 2017 Assistant Professor Petra Peharec Štefanić, PhD, attended a congress „13th Multinational Congress on Microscopy“  held in Rovinj, Croatia where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project in poster entitled „Ultrastructural changes in tobacco cells induced by differently coated silver nanoparticles“.

 

In October 8th–12th, 2017 PhD student Renata Biba, attended a practical workshop „EuPA School on Practical Proteomics“ (https://www.proteomics-academy.org/practical-proteomics-school) held in Split, Croatia where she presented the results of the NanoPhytoTox project in poster entitled „Silver nanoparticles affect germination and induce oxidative stress in tobacco“.
