The Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, as a leading research and educational institution with a long tradition of teaching and research in various fields of climatology, establishes the first Center for Climatological Research which will be the central institution for interdisciplinary research on climate and climate change.

Nowadays, climate change is the subject of numerous scientific studies, and due to their impact on the environment and living conditions on Earth, they are gaining more and more public attention.

In addition to the development and implementation of modern research, the Center will network and connect all top scientists of the Faculty of Science in the field of climatology, says the head of the Assoc. Prof. Ivana Herceg Bulić:

"Due to the extreme complexity of the Earth's climate system and the many complex processes and interactions, a multidisciplinary approach to study is necessary. That is why the Faculty of Science, which brings together scientists from various fields of science and mathematics, has exceptional strength and competencies for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary scientific research. ”

With such an approach, the Center will achieve quality scientific results and gain new knowledge about the vulnerability of natural and urban environments to climate change. Attention will be paid to the research of the impact of climate change on the elements of the environment that are of exceptional importance for the Republic of Croatia. One of the tasks of the Center is to undertake a certain set of activities with the aim of raising the awareness of the general public about climate and climate change:

"The center will pay special attention to the training of young scientific staff, early involvement of students in scientific research and raising public awareness of climate, climate change and their impact through various popular science events, workshops and appearances in the media," said Assoc. Prof. Ivana Herceg Bulić.
