Description:
COURSE GOALS: Acquiring experiences in direct work with primary and secondary school pupils. Introduction to rules of conducting the school as a public institution. Introduction to the school administration. Introduction to the functioning of the school psycho-pedagogical service. Introduction to the relations between the school and the community.

LEARNING OUTCOMES AT THE LEVEL OF THE PROGRAMME:
1. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
1.2. demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamental concepts in chemistry
1.4. demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the most important chemistry laws and theories
2. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
2.2. describe important aspects of chemical change
2.3. apply stoichiometry
LEARNING SKILLS
5.1. search for and use professional literature as well as any other sources of relevant information

LEARNING OUTCOMES SPECIFIC FOR THE COURSE:
At the end of the course students will be able to:
1. Organize a classroom on the given teaching subject within the mentor's teaching plan.
2. Succesfully perform a classroom on the given teaching subject.
3. Write a review of the own performed classroom.
4. Write a review of the peer's performed classroom.
5. Anticipate and prevent possible negative classroom events.
6. Impartially evaluate pupil's learning achievements after the performed lesson.
7. Master basic rules of school administration.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The main objectives of the course are: to train pre-service teachers in real situations (in the classroom), to foster pre-service teachers to implement the knowledge and skills acquired in pre-courses, to provide pre-service teachers with first-hand insight into the organization of a school and to its social environment, to master the basic elements of pedagogical practice.
Methodology: Students are organized in groups of 4 to 5. Each group is assigned to a mentor (active in-service chemistry teacher). Students are mastering the skills necessary to organize and perform exam-lectures in real situations under the supervision of their school and academic mentors.

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS:
Observing lectures: Students have to attend at least 10 lessons of their school-mentors (in-service chemistry teachers) at primary or on secondary school level. Individual lectures: Each student has to organize and perform 4 lessons on primary or on secondary school level. Additionally, each student has to organize and perform 1 lesson on primary or on secondary school level and this lesson will be graded. Essays: Each student has to write a critical report of one exam-lesson of a peer. Other obligations: To help mentors in preparing chemical demonstrations and other didactic materials for lectures and to participate in other school activities (student competitions, in-service training seminars).

GRADING AND ASSESSING THE WORK OF STUDENTS:
Performing one exam-lecture (on primary or on secondary school level). Exam-lecture is discussed, commented and evaluated by academic and school mentors and by the rest of the group.
Literature:
  1. 1. Udžbenici i priručnici kemije i srodnih predmeta u osnovnoj i srednjoj školi (različiti izdavači i godine izdanja).
  2. DOPUNSKA LITERATURA:
    1. Svi udžbenici i priručnici kolegija prethodnika
