Description:
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
To identify, analyze and explain the possible harmful effects of human activity on the environment and the consequences of this activity on human health. To link the interdependence of harmful human activity on human health using examples and to propose and discuss possible reduction/elimination of harmful effects on the environment.

COURSE CONTENT:
Classes will be held according to the schedule, in the first part of the semester students will listen to condensed lectures, followed by seminars, organized as research projects that as such contain an exercise component.

LECTURES:
The first five teaching weeks are held in a condensed manner, with three units each week.
1) Introduction to health ecology
2) Chemical, physical and biological environmental factors
3) Human impact on the environment and the impact of the environment on humans
4) Development of human impact on the environment
5) Ecological incidents and disasters
6) Environmental toxicology and carcinogenesis
7) Air and health
8) Water and food and health
9) Principles of exposure, dose and response of the organism
10) Occupational health protection
11) Housing and health
12) Municipal, industrial and hazardous waste
13) Waste management
14) Risk assessment and management
15) Global scientific ecological problem

SEMINAR + EXERCISES:
In the second teaching week, students choose a topic for the seminar. Each topic is covered by a group of two to three students, and must have a research character - students include a concrete example with available data in the seminar, in addition to communication with the course teacher.
