Božena Tokić was born in 1996 in Split, Croatia. She graduated in 2025 from the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, where she defended her master’s thesis entitled “Impact of structural features on mechanical flexibility of one dimensional crystalline coordination polymers of cadmium(II) and copper(II) .” In the same year, she enrolled in the doctoral program in Chemistry, specializing in Inorganic and Structural Chemistry.
Since November 2025, she has been employed as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the Division of Inorganic Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, where she participates in both teaching and scientific research activities. Her research focuses on dynamic crystals, their structural characterization, and the investigation of the effects of light, temperature, and mechanical force on the response of crystalline materials.
She is the recipient of the Rector’s Award for the academic year 2020/2021 for the project entitled “Mechanically responsive cadmium(II) halogenides with dihalogenpyridine ligands“ conducted under the supervision of Prof. Marijana Đaković, PhD, and the direct mentorship of Mateja Pisačić, PhD. She is also a co-author of six international conference communications.
