Pursuant to Articles 32(1)(19), 73, and 77 of the Faculty Statutes, the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb (hereinafter: the PMF), announces the following:

for the appointment into

 

1) an associate into the associate category I position - assistant in natural science, the field of chemistry, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, at the Division of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the PMF’s Department of Chemistry – 1 person

5) an associate into the associate category I position – senior assistant in natural science, the field of geophysics, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, to work on the following project: “HRZZ-MAPS Seconds Matter: Cutting-edge Earthquake Early Warning Systems” at the Andrija Mohorovičić Geophysical Institute,  of the PMF’s Department of Geophysics – 1 person

6) the research-teaching category I position of - full tenured professor in natural science, the field of physics, the branch of physics of elementary particles and fields, for an unlimited term and on a full-time basis, at the Theoretical Physics Division of Particles and Fields of the PMF’s Department of Physics - 1 person.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

The Call is open to applicants of either gender on equal terms.

In addition to the general terms and conditions of employment, for any point of the Call the applicants must satisfy the requirements set out in the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No 119/22).

 

The applicants must enclose the following with their application: a CV, the relevant diploma, a proof of citizenship.

 

The applicants for point 1 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:

- a completed university graduate study programme in Chemistry, research-focused,

- enrolment in the doctoral study programme in Chemistry.

additional conditions – experience with the experimental X-ray diffraction technique (XRD) and  

                                experience in supramolecular and structural chemistry research. The supporting

                              documents should include scientific papers and conference proceedings.    

 

The applicants for point 2 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:

-  a completed university graduate study programme in Chemistry, research-focused (mag.chem.),

-  enrolment in a doctoral study programme in Chemistry.

- additional conditions – participation in the scientific research relating to the synthesis and

characterisation of organic compounds, and the experience with atomic force microscopy

(AFM) and the screening tunnelling microscope (STM). The supporting evidence may

include papers published in scientific journals and conference proceedings.

 

The applicants for point 3 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:

- a completed university graduate study programme in Chemistry, research-focused (mag.chem.),

- enrolment in a doctoral study programme in Chemistry.

- additional conditions – experience in synthesis and characterisation of supramolecular ion receptors;

- experience with the use of instruments for the physical and chemical characterisation of

 processes in solvents (microcolorimetry, UV-Vis spectroscopy, NMR, circular dichroism and

 spectrofluorimetry), as well as the processing of collected data,

 - experience in simulating the molecular dynamics of supramolecular systems in solvents.

The supporting evidence should include relevant publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings.

 

The applicants for point 4 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:

- a completed university graduate study programme in Chemistry, research-focused

- additional conditions – experience with synthesis and characterisation of compounds. The supporting

               evidence may include the thesis or a scientific paper and/or conference proceedings.

 

The applicants for point 5 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:

- a doctorate in natural science, the field of geophysics,

- experience in seismological research, as evidenced by enclosed published papers

- knowledge of scientific programming and/or advanced computing. The supporting documents may include photocopies of student transcript books or transcripts of academic grades as evidence of having passed a programming course, as well as workshop participation certificates, or one or more years of work experience in positions requiring the use of a programming language or similar,

- active knowledge of English language. The supporting evidence may include photocopies of school certificates, student transcript books, transcripts of academic grades, or language certificates and other  similar documents.

 

The applicants for point 6 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:

- a doctorate in natural science, the field of physics, the branch of physics of elementary particles and fields.

 

The applicants for points 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the Call must enclose with their application evidence to prove that they meet the additional terms and conditions listed in the Ordinance on Additional Terms and Conditions for Appointment into Grades and the Corresponding Positions at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. The applicants for point 6 of the Call must enclose with their application other supporting documents as a proof of eligibility under Articles 4 and 10 of the Ordinance on the Appointment into Grades and Positions at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Science, which can be accessed on the PMF website:

For point 6 of the Call, the applicants must enclose the following with their respective applications: a photocopy of the decision concerning their appointment into a research grade (if any), the proofs of the research, teaching and professional work, the reprints of papers, and a certificate of registration and citation in the relevant databases – Web of Science Core Collection, Scopus, Medline, and other databases relevant for specific science fields. The applicants must also enclose a Declaration of Originality for their published academic output, confirming that all their papers and achievements they refer to are the original results of their work and that they do not contain any sources other than the ones mentioned and acknowledged therein. Furthermore, the applicants under point 6 of the Call must also submit evidence to prove that they meet the individual general and special terms and conditions according to the Decision on the essential terms and conditions for assessment of the teaching, and the scientific and professional activities within the framework of appointment into the research-teaching grades Narodne novine 122/2017 (Official Gazette No 122/17) and its subsequent amendment Narodne novine 120/2021 (Official Gazette No 120/2021).

  

For all points of the Call the applicants who qualify for employment preference under the special regulations should refer to the preference in their application and enclose therewith all evidence as listed in the special regulations governing the priority placement rights, as well as all evidence of eligibility and of absence of any impediment to their exercising of the priority placement rights as stipulated under the special regulations. Such applicants will be given employment preference within this Call over other candidates, under the same terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, provided they meet all the terms and conditions of the Call and that they have achieved top scores in the selection procedure.   

 

An application shall be deemed duly completed and complete if it contains all the data and the supporting documents in keeping with the Call requirements. Incomplete, disorganised, and late applications shall not be taken into consideration, nor will there be a subsequent invitation to the applicants to amend such applications.

 

For all points of the Call foreign nationals must provide a Croatian language certificate.

The assessment of the applicants for all points of the Call may include the following selection procedure:

  • an interview with the applicants.

The applicants who are expected to take part in the selection procedure (the interview) will receive an email invitation with the details regarding the time and place of the interview.

 

Any applicant who fails to attend the interview at the time and the place as specified in the separate invitation, shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the Call proceedings.

 

The PMF collects and processes personal data of the applicants taking part in the Call for Applications for positions with the aim of verifying qualifications and eligibility in accordance with the Decision on the Collection, Protection and Processing of Personal Data (CLASSIFICATION No: 035-01/18-01/5; FILE No:251-58-10201-18-2).

 

The closing date for submission of applications for points 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 of the Call is 30 days after the publication of the Call in the Official Gazette.

 

The closing date for submission of applications for point 4 of the Call is 60 days after the publication of the Call in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Croatia. 

 

The results of the Call will be published on the official website of the PMF: www.pmf.unizg.hr (Competitions).
