The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the development of scientific research in biology through the study of research and researchers who have received the Nobel Prize. Students will be introduced to the basics of research and experimental design throughout history.
An important component of this course is teamwork when preparing seminar work. Teams of 4 students will work on one topic per cycle in a total of 4 cycles, in each group they will work on one Nobel prize. Through the seminar, the student will get to practice various skills: responsibility, cooperation, and presentation skills. They will learn about the basics of scientific research and its development over the past 2 centuries. For the sake of easier understanding of the issues of scientific research, at the end, students in groups will participate in a final seminar where they will conduct an imagined research in which they must imaginatively design, perform, collect and process the results, discuss them and present all of this at the seminar.
