COURSE CONTENT:
1. Qualitative analysis of cations
2. Qualitative analysis of anions
3. Gravimetric determination of aluminum
4. Determination of chloride by Fajans's method
5. Determination of the water hardness by complexometric titration with EDTA
6. Preparation of HCl and NaOH standard solutions
7. Titrimetric determination of NaOH and Na2CO3 mixture
8. Determination of nitrogen by Kjeldahl's method
9. Preparation of Na2C2O4 and KMnO4 standard solutionsf
10. Chemical oxygen demand
11. Determination of iron in tee by volatilization gravimetry and UV/Vis spectrophotometry
12. Infrared spectrometry (qualitative and quantitative analysis)
13. Determination of metals using flame emission spectrometry
14. Spectrofluorimetry (Dependence of esculin emission on pH)

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
To qualitatively determine cations and anions in solution using precipitation reagents.
To perform precipitation of an analyte as well as filtering and ignition of a precipitate in gravimetric analysis.
To prepare solutions of primary and secondary standards for titrimetric analyses.
To perform acid-base, precipitation and redox titrations.
To distinguish between the gravimetric analysis by precipitation and the gravimetric analysis by vaporization.
To calculate the amount of an analyte using titrimetric and gravimetric data.
To handle laboratory equipment used in volumetric and gravimetric analysis.
To apply UV/Vis spectrophotometry for quantitative determination of metals.
To apply infrared spectroscopy in qualitative and quantitative analysis of organic substances.
To quantify metals using flame photometry.
To apply spectrofluorimetry to study molecule properties.
