The general objectives of the Economic Geography course are to become familiar with the development and the place and importance of economic geography in the system of geographical sciences. The concept, theoretical approaches and main models of economic geography and their application in geographical research are considered. A special objective is to show the importance of energy sources, consumption trends, geographical consequences of their spatial distribution, and problems of sustainability of consumption. By working out factors influencing the development of certain economic activities, students will be able to understand and interpret processes and problems in the modern world. They will acquire the necessary preliminary knowledge for successful study of the subject sciences and create the prerequisites for learning and teaching economic geography content in school.
