The objectives of the Geography of Croatia course are to acquire general knowledge about Croatia and its individual regions; to understand contemporary processes and the causal relationships between them and their impact on the overall development of Croatia; to learn about Croatia in a broader regional and European context. Students are trained to independently collect, process and interpret data and, on their basis, determine the intensity and meaning of individual phenomena and processes in space, and to transfer the content of Geography of Croatia to geography teaching in primary and secondary schools.

COURSE CONTENT
Lectures:
1) Size, borders, position and territorial formation of Croatia.
2) Natural and geographical characteristics of Croatia. Natural basis as a factor in settlement and organization of life.
3) Historical and geographical development. Development of population in Croatia and its individual regions.
4) Demographic characteristics of Croatia. Population structures.
5) Social and geographical factors of development. Development and characteristics of the Croatian economy.
6) Industrialization, deagrarization and urbanization. Urban and transport systems of Croatia.
7) Administrative-territorial organization. Regional development of Croatia. Polarized development.
8) Problem areas. Border regions. Marginal areas.
9) Regional structure of Croatia. Physiognomic, nodal-functional and planning regions of Croatia.
10) Central Croatia. Structure, characteristics, specificities.
11) Eastern Croatia. Structure, characteristics, specificities.
12) Mountainous Croatia. Structure, characteristics, specificities.
13) Northern Croatian littoral. Structure, characteristics, specificities.
14) Southern Croatian littoral (Dalmatia). Structure, characteristics, specificities.
15) Position and significance of Croatia in Europe. Croatia and global development.

Seminars:
The content of the seminar is related to lectures, with an emphasis on current topics.
