All teaching activities will be held in Croatian. However, foreign students in mixed groups will have the opportunity to attend additional office hours with the lecturer and teaching assistants in English to help master the course materials. Additionally, the lecturer will refer foreign students to the corresponding literature in English, as well as give them the possibility of taking the associated exams in English.

COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: The aim of course Modern techniques in physics is to introduce students with principal physical methods used in modern physics research in Croatian and worldwide laboratories.

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND SYLLABUS: During semester several visits to Institute Ruđer Bošković and Institute of Physics will be organized. Occasionally visits can be also organized to other institutions in Zagreb where physical research is performed. Particularly we will concentrate to following physical methods and suitable devices:
1. Low temperature techniques
2. Magnetic techniques
3. Electron microscope
4. Lasers
5. Particle accelerators
6. Electronic equipment
7. Signal processing
Accompanying to every visit theoretical preparation will be performed in a form of motivation oral presentation followed by discussion about the problem in sense of student's previous knowledge and common/public sense expectance. Group work will be simulated and stimulated. After visit short personal summary in form of short written article will be required from each student.

TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT METHODS: Laboratory presentation, oral lectures, group work, oral presentations and discussions as methods will be used as basics course tools. From student 80% of attendance in booth seminars and visits are required. Also minimum five individual written short reports are required.
