Description:
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
To train students in essential concepts of genome dynamics and provide them with basic skills to use large scale genomic data for macroevolutionary reconstruction.

COURSE CONTENT:
1. Models of genome evolution - origin of the new genes and life cycle of genes
2. Phylostratigraphy - basic principles of the approach and computational challenges
3. Macroevolutionary analysis of transcriptomes and proteomes - expression data in macroevolutionary studies
4. Evolution of multicellularity - molecular approaches
5. Macroevolution of tumours - from the large-scale tumour data to the macroevolutionary origin of tumours
