Biography

After completing secondary school, she enrolled in the study of geography at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb in 1997 and graduated in 2002 with the thesis Processes of globalisation and regionalisation in Europe and their impacts on Croatia, attaining the title of geography professor. In 2005, she enrolled in the postgraduate study programme Geographic basis of spatial planning, and that year became a junior researcher at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb.

She participated in the projects “Regional geographic research of Croatia” (2004 – 2007), “Influence of globalisation and transition on regional development in Croatia” (2007 – 2009), and “Environmental change and the cultural landscape as a development resource” (2009 – 2012). She completed postgraduate studies in 2011 with the defence of her Doctoral dissertation Economic and geographic restructuring of Central Croatia under conditions of transition, and then was appointed a senior research assistant. In 2013, she received the scientific title of scientific associate, in May 2016 was named an assistant professor, and in May 2019 received the scientific title of senior scientific associate.

She attended several foreign universities as part of the CEEPUS Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies from 2009 – 2019: Department of Geography, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Maribor; Faculty of Geography, Tourism, Sport and Territorial Planning, University of Oradei (Romania); Department of Geography, Charles University in Prague; Department of Geography, University of Brno. She also visited the Department of Geography, University of Oulu (Finland) as part of the Erasmus programme. Since 2014, she has been actively involved in projects financed by the European Union through the IPA programme: Innovative urban strategies and action plans to increase the social and economic role for seniors - SILVER CITY, and Co-operation of SEE (Southeast European) science parks for the promotion of transnational market uptake of R&D results and technologies by SMEs.

She teaches in the graduate study programme (since 2005) and undergraduate and graduate university study programme (since 2006) at the Department of Geography.  She is also active at Doctoral Study at Department.Scientific interests and research are focused on the issues within the fields of economic, industrial and political geography, and globalisation and regional development.

In these fields, she sees opportunities for new advancements and new scientific interests. She is actively involved in the organisation of conferences and congresses at the Department of Geography. She has held several lectures at professional gatherings organised by the Croatian Geographic Society, and participates in society activities. Since 2018 she has been a member of the Executive board of the Croatian Geographic Society, currently serving as secretary. In 2015, she won an award of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Science for her achievements in scientific and expert work.
