Petrinja-net

The Department of Geophysics, University of Zagreb and the Italian National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS) installed on 4 January 2021, five temporary seismic stations near the town of Petrinja, Croatia, in the aftermath of the 29 Decembre 2020 MW = 6.4 earthquake. The stations equipped with a seismometer and a strong motion sensor, recorded the aftershock sequence beginning six days after the mainshock allowing to augment the permanent seismic network in the area improving the azimuthal coverage and providing additional near‐field observations.

Fig. 1 The blue triangles show a temporary network of accelerographs and seismographs (Petrinja-net) set up on 4 and 5 January 2021 in collaboration with colleagues from the Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale (OGS) from Udine. The PETR station on Petrova gora (red triangle) is also part of that network. The red triangles show the seismological stations of the Croatian Seismographic Network.

Acknowledgement

We would like to thank our colleagues from OGS and OGS for lending the instruments and their engagement! We also thank Katarina Zrinska Elementary School in Mečenčani, local communities in Hotnja and Novo Selo Glinsko,  all private individuals who allowed us to deploy instruments in their houses, as well as all the individuals who helped us in any way!
