Polychronis Koliogiannis Koutmiridis obtained his Ph.D. in theoretical nuclear physics and nuclear astrophysics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2023. Following a postdoctoral fellowship in Greece supported by an Excellence Scholarship, he joined the University of Zagreb Faculty of Science in 2024 as a Croatian Science Foundation postdoctoral fellow within the Mobility Programme – Incoming Mobility of Senior Assistants. In 2026, he was appointed assistant professor in the Division of Theoretical Physics at the Department of Physics. His research activities in theoretical nuclear physics, nuclear astrophysics, and multi-messenger astronomy focus on the equation of state and microscopic composition of dense nuclear matter and their impact on the structure, rotation, stability, and thermal evolution of neutron stars. His work also addresses exotic phases and phase transitions in dense matter, compact-binary mergers, and their associated gravitational-wave and electromagnetic signatures. His publication record comprises 21 papers in international scientific journals, with over 300 citations (WoS). In 2022, he received the Award of Excellence for Young Researcher from the Faculty of Science at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
