U utorak 7. listopada 2014. u 14:15h u prostoriji F201 seminar će održati Paul G. Beck (Service d'Astrophysique, IRFU/DSM/CEA Saclay, Francuska) pod naslovom "Asteroseismology of Red-Giant Stars: Mixed Modes, Differential Rotation, and Eccentric Binaries".
The unparalleled photometric data obtained by NASA’s Kepler space telescope
has led to an improved understanding of red giant stars from asteroseismology.
The detection of mixed modes in red giant stars has enabled us to determine the
evolutionary state and constrain their internal rotational gradient. In addition,
we continue to find more red giants in binary systems, which are ideal cases to
study the interaction of stars from seismology. Combining the seismic study of
the oscillating component of the system as well as the orbital modeling of the
system from light and radial velocity curves enables us to obtain a compressive
understanding of the system and its components.
